Title: Ten Thousand Years Book
The Essential Tool For Chinese Astrology
Author: Dr. Edgar Sung, introduction by Thomas Lin Yun
Large format, 303 pp., $35.00
Four thousand years seems like a healthy amount of time to test the
workability of a system; and that is about the age of the Ten Thousand Years Book.
Dr. Edgar Sung took it upon himself to translate and edit this book from the Chinese Culture, an
arduous project and one which will benefit those who do not read Chinese.
He did this all for his students, though he was convinced to create enough books so that
others can benefit from the book as well.
This book is referred to as a 'calendar,' but it is not what Westerners
think of as calendar of course. Within this book are all the charts: the notes, at it were, with
which to create an understanding of the music of an individual's place in the great
astrological orchestra of heaven and earth. I wax ecstatic! It includes the Heavenly Stems,
the Earthly Branches, The Five Rats Progression Table, 24 seasons, and more, so that it is
easy to do different calculations such as Nine Star Chi and Purple Star Divination, Flying
Purple Star and Four Pillars.
